Origin: A Dungeons & Dragons Campaign Setting

An Origin Gate is a large artifact with a circular base 30' in diamater and four curved spires which rise 40' high, tapering towards each other such that at the top they are each only 3' away from each other. Several hundred years after the first Origin Gate was discovered, wizards learned how to create additional Origin Gates.

An Origin Gate is powered by mithrium, an alloy of mithril, and allows instant teleportation to certain specified coordinates. Within short distances, the artifact can be pinpoint a location to within a few feet. As the distance increases, however, there is less resolution, such that only a handful of coordinates are available for nearby continents, and there is only a single coordinate for a plane. Some planes cannot be accessed through the Origin Gate.

It is possible to construct a Gate Pair at the destination coordinates. The Gate Pair, once constructed, is also powered by mithrium and allows teleportation back to the Origin Gate.

To increase the number of accessible planes, the Flintse Kingdom has created additional Origin Gates at far locations.
